New CEO for Calvary Health Care Tasmania
27 Dec 2007
A new chief executive has been appointed to run Tasmania’s biggest private health care organisation, Calvary Health Care Tasmania.
Mr Damian Hiser was appointed to the position on 22 October 2007. Mr Hiser replaces Francis Chia, who has filled the position on an interim basis and has now retired from the Little Company of Mary Health Care
Mr Hiser, a former optometrist, worked in finance and business development for Mayne Health in NSW prior to becoming (CEO) for National Capital Private Hospital in Canberra and then Kareena Private Hospital in Sutherland Shire, Sydney (which became part of Affinity Health). For the past three years Damian has been the General Manager of the NSW/ACT Funeral Division of Invocare.
Mr Hiser was chosen as the new Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Health Care Tasmania after a nationwide executive search.
"I am looking forward to working with such a significant provider of health services in Tasmania" Mr Hiser says. "Calvary Health Care has a long tradition of providing quality healthcare to Tasmanians. My challenge is to work with the medical community to ensure Calvary continues to be the leading private healthcare provider in the State."
Calvary Health Care Tasmania is part of the national group, LCM Health Care, which operates hospital and health services nationally on behalf of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary. In recent years, Calvary Health Care has grown to encompass five campuses covering southern and northern Tasmania, with a wide range of services, from pre-natal care and rehabilitation, to accident and emergency services, and cardiac care.
LCM Health Care is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation – a service of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary. The organisation operates the Calvary public and private hospitals, hospices, and aged care services in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Hobart, Launceston, Wagga Wagga and the Hunter Valley. It remains strongly committed to the vision of the founder of the Little Company of Mary, the Venerable Mary Potter, by demonstrating hospitality, healing, stewardship and respect.
