Children's Therapy Services
The Children’s Therapy Service (CTS) offers a wide range of assessment, treatment and advice to eligible clients from birth to school-leaving age. Our Service is structured in three streams, allowing us to best meet children’s needs.
- Our first stream provides a broad range of services to our youngest clients, who may be experiencing delays and/or difficulties in their early development. This team works with children up to their early school years.
- Our second stream provides services to children with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders, and those who have experienced traumatic injury (such as brain or spinal injury). This team works predominately with children from pre-school age upwards, with many clients remaining with this team until they reach eighteen years of age or leave school, the mandatory transition points for our service.
- Our third stream also works predominately with children of school age, targeting children with co-ordination difficulties and/or problems with sensory integration that impact on school performance and enjoyment of leisure activities.
The teams work in close consultation with each other, and the child’s family, along with the other significant people in our clients’ lives such as family day care, crèche and school.
The CTS employs a range of health professionals, including occupationaltherapists, physiotherapists, a psychologist, social workers and speech pathologists. Community Podiatry, OPST and a co-located specialist Paediatric Medicine Clinic also support the Service.
Eligibility criteria and exclusions apply to most of our Services. For information specific to your circumstances, we recommend that you contact the Children’s Therapy Service.
