Volunteers
Calvary Health Care Tasmania volunteers are a group of people who give freely of their time, their unique skills and life experiences to enhance the service to patients, their families, friends and the community.
The volunteers support and complement the efforts f the professional staff of Calvary.
Volunteers may choose to work on either the Lenah Valley, St John’s or Rehabilitation Services campus and are encouraged to make a regular commitment of time ie a minimum of 3 hours per week for a period of six months.
Areas where are volunteers work are:
- Administration – general and patient
- Assisting on wards
- Hospital orientation
- Lending library
- Meet and greet
- Reading to patients
- Patient escort
- Shopping for patients at the kiosk
If you would like to become a volunteer, basic training is undertaken.
As a volunteer you need to:
- Be reliable and responsible
- Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines
- Work within the volunteer position description
- Carry out specific activities
- Be committed to the mission and values of Calvary Health Care Tasmania
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training
- Ask for support when needed
- Value the support of other team members
