Domiciliary Home Care
Planning for Domiciliary Care
When to decide? Discuss this option with your doctor and family during pregnancy.
You may make the decision after the birth of your baby.
It is desirable that you and your partner attend the Parent Education Program during pregnancy.
We believe the decision about your length of stay in hospital, should be made by you in consultation with your doctor.
How does the Program Operate
The Domiciliary Midwife Program provides for a Midwife to visit and care for you in your own home, if you are discharged prior to Day 5.
Advantages of Domiciliary Care
- less disruption to family life
- whole family can be involved
- more relaxed in your own home
Liaison with Support Network
Through the program, we assist with co-ordinating your ongoing care and support with:
- Family and Child Health Nurse
- Calvary Breast Feeding Clinic
- Your Obstetrician and Paediatrician
- Your G.P.
Going Home from Hospital
This is a special time for you and your family.
Our experienced Midwives understand that going home brings a mixture of anticipation, excitement and possibly apprehension.
Through our program, home visits will help you and your family by providing support, advice and encouragement.
