Patient Information
On Arrival
You will be greeted by a member of our clerical staff who will check your admission details and then escort you to the Neurosurgical Unit.
A nurse will then gather information on your medical history and answer any questions you may have regarding your admission and ensure you are comfortable.
What you will need
- sleepware
- dressing gown
- slippers
- personal toiletries
- X-rays
- health insurance details and Medicare card
In addition, if you have entitlements in relation to your status with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Pharmeceutical Safety Net, MAIB or workers compenstation, those details are also required.
Additional Items
- your favourite pillow, if desired
- if you have Ted Stockings and/or Cervical Collar, please bring them with you to hospital.
Personal Valuables
All care is taken for your personal possesions but Calvary Health Care Tasmania accepts no responsibility for their security.
Please do not bring jewellery, items of value or large amounts of cash. A small amount may be necessary for personal use eg newspapers.
Visiting
Family and friends are welcome during visiting hours which are 11am to 8pm. It may be necessary for staff to restrict visitors due to your medical condition.
To ensure patients in the High Observation Area, have adequate rest, visitors are not permitted between 1 and 3pm.
Your Discharge
Your Doctor will advise when you may go home. Prior to leaving, please check that you have your personal belongings, medication, x-rays and appointment schedule.
You are requested to vacate your room by 10:00am unless prior arrangements have been made with the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Home Assistance
Will you need aids, appliances or home modification?
Please discuss your need with your General Practitioner prior to admission, who can then arrange for home assistance through the Community Nursing Service.
